www.aipm.com.au Project Manager 27 What made you decide to pursue RegPM Certification? I saw RegPM Certi cation as the key to my career progression and a way to be benchmarked against other professional project managers. I also wanted to be recognised for having obtained a professional standard that was recognised across Australia. What did you get out of the certification process? e biggest thing I took away from the process was con dence, and the level of lear ning was extremely valuable. Having to make a conscious e ort to participate and further educate myself was a great experience and one I will continue to lear n from and build on. How has the RegPM certification impacted your career? It has given me con dence in my own abilities, which has in turn led others to recognise me as a professional, as it shows that I take my career seriously. I know that if I was to leave the company at any stage, it demonstrates that I'm a respected and certi ed RegPM. Meet the RegPMs AIPM's RegPM-certified members benefit from improved work opportunities and a boost to their CVs, as well as learning important lessons from the certification process. When looking at the di erent options to become certi ed, what drew me to AIPM over others was their comprehensive process, which required you to provide a body of work and take part in a face-to -face interview to assess competency. I saw the process as diligent and well-rounded, which was what I was looking for. What did you get out of the certification process? I walked away from the process with improved inter view skills. I spent a number of hours in discussion with my certi er and that made me more comfortable and aware of my capabilities. I have since been able to use these skills in a mentoring capacity. How has the RegPM certification impacted your career? It identi ed areas I needed to work on. Ultimately, this made it possible for me to obtain the position I have now. Without undergoing RegPM certi cation I don't think I would have had the confdence or skill set for my current role. ••• GARETH CHEGWIDDEN (CPPD) Gareth Chegwidden is the Portfolio Relationship Manager in the Enterprise Project Management Office at AMP.
