www.aipm.com.au Project Manager 9 Ian Sharpe, CPPD, National Director A respected professional in project leadership and capability development, Ian has worked with a wide range of global organisations as a senior advisor on portfolio, program and project excellence, helping them build internal capabilities by providing sustainable and e ective development programs. Ian has worked with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, with the O ce of Safety and Mission Success leadership team. He has chaired the two -year national review of the AIPM project and program standards, ser ved on the Professional Development Council and chaired the Gover nance Committee. Ian is also an AIPM accredited assessor and IPMA assessor. Ian is a passionate speaker on leadership, high perfor mance teams, developing communities of practice and evolving competency models. An AIPM CPPD and a Registered Consultant in project and program management, Ian holds a Masters Degree in Philosophy, Postgraduate Diploma in Philosophy of Mind, Advanced Diploma in Project Management and Certi cate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training. Trevor Alex, FAIPM, CPPD, National Director Trevor is well regarded in the industry, with more than 20 years practical experience and knowledge of project management that spans a number of projects and leadership roles across the private and government sectors. He has been a National Director of AIPM since October 2011, and was previously Victorian Chapter President and Director. He is also a Fellow of AIPM and the Australian Institute of Management, and Secretary of the Asia Paci c Federation of Project Management. Trevor is an AIPM CPPD and Registered Project, Program and Portfolio Management Consultant and currently a Principal with UXC Consulting. In addition, he is an AIPM RegPM and PMO Assessor, IPMA Assessor and chairs AIPM's Membership Council, Continuous Professional Development Council and Victorian Forum. He holds a Master of Commerce and Master of Project Management, and has undertaken Executive Development programs at Georgetown University and the H.M Smith Business School in Washington DC. W: www.aipm.com.au Meet the National Board Dr Steve Milner, CPPD, National President Dr Steve Milner is an accomplished leader of complex projects and progra ms across functional a reas and between organisations in the health, industrials and utilities sectors. He was elected as AIPM National President at the October 2013 AGM, is an AIPM Certi ed Practising Project Director (CPPD) and has a PhD and MBA from the University of Adelaide. Recently, he worked in a leadership role on the $1.8 billion Adelaide Desalination megaproject. e project was delivered within budget and ahead of schedule, and has won three global awards, including IPMA's Project Excellence (Megaprojects) Award. For personal pursuit, Steve has led and participated in expeditions all over the world to explore caves, and has taken part in volunteer work for museums and a World Heritage Project. Gary Yorke, National Director Gary is a Principal Consultant with MetaPM Pty Ltd. He has a passion for delivering business- focused projects and has more than 30 years' international experience in a range of industries, including telecommunications, publishing, banking, logistics and computer games. Gary has also spent a number of years lecturing, training and consulting for gover nment agencies. Gary chairs the National and Vic PMO SIGs and sits on the AIPM Governance Committee. He holds an MBA from Cass Business School in London and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Recognised as an authority on PMOs and project management best practice, he regularly presents and writes on the subject. Dr Jill Owens completed her PhD in 2010, winning the Faculty of IT Doctoral Medal. Highly respected project management academic Dr Jill Owen passed away on 1 November 2013. Jill's contributions to the academic community will be long remembered, as will her management and leadership roles before she transitioned into academia. As well as publishing and presenting widely, Jill contributed to the project management community within the University of NSW and with external groups in a variety of roles and across a number of initiatives. She managed accreditation by the a liated Global Accreditation Centre (GAC) for all the project management courses at UNSW Canberra, worked on GAC audits of several other Australian universities and was recently appointed to the Academic Member Advisory Group. Jill was a member of the AIPM Knowledge and Research Council, and gained a Ministerial appointment to the ACT Accreditation and Registration Council. Jill will be remembered for her many contributions to project management and her standing within the global research community. Our condolences go to Jill's husband Steven, her family, friends and colleagues.
