REQUIREMENTS The CPD Categories and Points table applies to all AIPM Members who currently hold RegPM. Certification must be maintained through participation in the CPD program and your continued AIPM membership. Evidence used to substantiate CPD activities is subject to AIPM Quality Assurance procedures. Certification is based over a three- year period. If you do not log the remaining points required in the specified time period, you will need to complete the re-certification process again. This will incur additional charges, loss of benefits (including post-nominals) and any accumulated CPD Points. www.aipm.com.au Project Manager 35 Developing Professional Practice AIPM is delivering a series of high-level, advanced professional practice two-day workshops across Australia. e rst risk workshop ran at full capacity, and several other workshops have been recently completed either at full capacity or with limited seats remaining. Several Advanced Professional Practice Workshops have been completed, including a Risk Workshop facilitated by Peter Fowler in Brisbane, a Leadership Workshop by Ian Sharpe in Melbour ne, a Procurement Workshop by David Hudson and a Governance Workshop by Michael Young in Sydney. Recently added to the mix are a two- day Risk Workshop in ACT and a one-day Procurement Workshop in Tasmania. Knowing and Understanding Risk -- Understand the Difference e rst workshop piloted was focused on Risk Management and was facilitated by Peter Fowler. Peter Fowler is QLD Chapters Immediate Past President and has more than 10 years' experience within the Department of Defence in various high- level management roles and a wealth of project management and training experience. Peter's professional expertise includes safety management, portfolio, program and project management, logistics, maintenance engineering, human resources and training delivery through a wide range of industries. When asked about the risk workshop he recently facilitated, Peter indicated that the workshop was designed for practicing PMs to refresh their knowledge and (in particular) their application of PROM. e workshops themselves generated vigorous discussion about the application of certain PROM aspects in project orga nisations. During the workshop, participants were able to take away tools and techniques to improve upon their project portfolio. Feedback for participants was positive: • "I found the information presented more useful than I expected." • "It had a good mix of theory and class interaction." • "Seemed to be well suited for the audience. It was not too industry speci c, the material presented was advanced and expected the audience to have the relevant experience." The Changing Face of Leadership e Leadership Workshop facilitated by AIPM Governance Committee Chair Ian Sharpe was designed to help participants understand practical ways to become better leaders. e workshop established a clear de nition between leadership and management, and related day-to- day leadership to a transfor mational leadership style that caters for change. It identi ed that a change of style is often required to gain better perfor mance in a situational context. Understanding what's 'backstage' in the brain and how it relates to leadership is essential. Pro ling emotional intelligence, identifying speci c areas to work on for professional development and being aware of what to watch for in others were considered key factors in developing an e ective leadership style for successful projects. • “Excellent content and good variety of visual/lear ning aids. Videos were very entertaining and memorable." • “I was interested in lear ning about emotional intelligence and more about the 4-D behavioural system -- this nailed it!" • “I have attended three other leadership workshops in the past 12 months -- this has been the most efective.” • •• FIND OUT MORE For more information on the APPW Program, visit the AIPM website or contact the National Office.
