www.aipm.com.au Project Manager 27 What made you decide to pursue RegPM certification? e RegPM certi cation gave a more professional hue and credibility to my PM experience and studies. It covers a whole set of project management disciplines, so I knew that it would measure and build a broad set of skills. My involvement with the sub-committee of the Australian Institute of Project Management's NSW Young and Emerging Project Practitioners group also lead to a desire to become certi ed. What did you get out of the certification process? e RegPM certi cation demonstrates to clients a consistency in my knowledge across all project management areas. How has the RegPM certification impacted your career? I have been working on the North West Rail Link project for almost two years and have been able to use many of my project management skills during this professionally challenging project. Meet the RegPMs AIPM's RegPM-Certified members benefit from improved work opportunities and a boost to their CVs, as well as learning important lessons from the certification process. NICK JAGO CPPM Nick Jago came to Australia to complete his Masters in Project Management and obtain RegPM-certification at Certified Practising Project Manager level. Nick is a Senior Project Manager at AECOM. REGPM COVERS A WHOLE SET OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT DISCIPLINES, SO I KNEW THAT IT WOULD MEASURE AND BUILD A BROAD SET OF SKILLS I FELT MUCH HAPPIER AS A PRACTITIONER KNOWING THAT AN INDEPENDENT BODY HAD PUT ME THROUGH A RIGOROUS RATING PROCESS What made you decide to pursue RegPM certification? Initially, RegPM certi cation was about ensuring that I obtained a benchmark on where my skills as a project manager were rated. I was a practitioner for many years but had no understanding of how well I compared to others, so I went through the CPPD RegPM process looking for that sort of con dence. What did you get out of the certification process? e CPPD certi cation highlighted weaknesses in our process. is being that we ran projects independently and did not hold a good view of the portfolio and how it all interacted. JAMES CAREW CPPD James Carew has worked as Manager of the Project Management Office, Heritage Bank Toowoomba for the past nine years and became RegPM-certified at Certified Practising Project Director level six years ago. How has the RegPM certification impacted your career? RegPM certi cation has positively impacted the credibility of my job. Because CPPD is a rigorous process done through an independent body, it earns you immediate respect in the industry. ••• MEMBERS•
