22 Project Manager New AIPM Standard TO USE PPM EFFECTIVELY, AN ORGANISATION needs clear strategic objectives and a PM professional at a level to be able to direct all projects towards furthering these goals. AIPM's recently launched Certified Practising Portfolio Executive (CPPE) Standard, a competency-based assessment for project professionals, has been developed in response to this need. The Standard has now been finalised and AIPM has appointed the inaugural CPPE Assessors. "The CPPE Standard really articulated and confirmed to me the importance of PPM in terms of what I had been doing with ComSuper," says John Molloy, ComSuper Executive Manager of Project Services and the first to receive AIPM's new CPPE Standard. "As such, ComSuper will continue to review and build on the Project Management Framework, and the CPPE qualification will play a part in the successful delivery of the ICT projects currently in progress." Ian Sharpe, Principal at UXC Consulting, was John's CPPE assessor and sees the growth of PPM as a response to an increasing rate of change in the business environment. "It's terrific to see the AIPM taking a world-leading position on portfolio competency," he says. "We finally have a sound and proven way to call out the capability of those leading portfolios in organisations; this is vital to managing their investment, risk and return." "Our PMO Accreditation has long provided assessment on whole organisational strategy and operations, of utilised best practice frameworks and assessment," says AIPM CEO Margie O'Tarpey. "Our newly developed CPPE Standard for portfolio executives complements this framework. This is the highest Standard in the world today and AIPM is leading the way in shaping a consistent view of organisational standards at the highest level." To be eligible to assess at CPPE level, you must currently be an AIPM-registered CPPD Assessor. ••• FIND OUT MORE For more information on the CPPE Standard, contact AIPM National Manager Professional Development Doug Bowen.
