Project Manager : Project Manager Feb Mar 2013
10 Project Manager Our calendar features a corporate lunch, which is an opportunity for the President and Councillors to engage with stakeholders draw n from business, industry and professional associations, government sectors and the community. e aim is to gain direct feedback on the Chapter's strategic direction, the quality of our events and programs, and engagement with all of our member categories. e clear message from stakeholders is their strong desire to support the Chapter in attracting high-quality presenters through increased attendance and sponsorships. At our last event for 2012, we secured behavioural scientist Darren Hill as a presenter. Darren provided an interactive, entertaining and instr uctive presentation on communication and motivation. Education and training is vitally important in PM, as is ongoing learning. Our event program is critical to ensuring our members continue to gain access to the most quali ed and current professional expertise available. Your Chapter Council has been busy planning for the year, holding our rst meeting for 2013 in early February. e NSW SIGs are also in full swing. YEPP has a strong Committee Str ucture developing initiatives to support our Young and Emerging Project Practitioners. WIPM is updating its goals to encompass research, delivery of events and mentoring, as well as supporting strategic links with other business and networking groups. WIPM is seeking motivated volunteers to join the SIG Committee. e PMO SIG is being strengthened this year with more events planned as well as the introduction of a Projects Control SIG; stay tuned for more information. Our focus areas include the Hunter and Illawarra regions; we have established LinkedIn groups for NSW members as well as regional groups. Our LinkedIn group is a platform to share AIPM activities and discuss AIPM related topics. I encourage you to log on to the AIPM website and register for upcoming events. e ACT Council is busy developing a business plan for 2013 with three focus areas. e rst is strengthening State and Federal Gover nment relations, plus raising our pro le with other industry associations. e second is adding corporate member value with our RegPM and PMO certi cation fra mework and promoting the PMA As. e third is adding member value with a well-designed CPD program of events infor med by our close relationship with members and gover nment. We have started the year well. We recently co-hosted our third function with the Institute of Public Administration Australia where we focused on bene ts management. At our Febr uary For um, Greg Field presented the AIM white paper 'Shared Ser vices in the Public Sector', with lessons for organisational change. At our PMO Special Interest Group, KPMG hosted a session on 'Blueprints'. I look for ward to meeting more members at upcoming events as the year progresses. ❰ACT❱ David Bryant ACT Chapter President ❰NSW❱ Chris Mansfield NSW Chapter President enewyeariso toa ying start following the Chapter's joint CPD event with the Change Ma nagement Institute in Brisbane in Febr uary. is event was particularly well attended because all were keen to hear the speech presented by Jo Grubb, Manager -- Human Capital, Consulting at Deloitte. Having set the bar high with her presentation at the 2012 AIPM State Conference, Jo did not disappoint and ensured attendees from both institutes were infor med and entertained. Our strong focus on regional events continues this year. We are looking to re-establish our presence on the Gold Coast and have events planned for the Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton, Mackay and Tow nsville in the rst half of the year. Your QLD Chapter Council members are working hard to ensure that we provide support to all our Queensland members. I would particularly like to welcome Ser vice Stream, a provider of support to our State's essential communications, water and power networks, which is the newest AIPM corporate member. ❰QLD❱ Mark Patch QLD Chapter President ❰NT❱ Brett Walker NT Chapter President •AIPM NEWS CHAPTERS NOTICEBOARD » 30 MAR BRISBANE CPD EVENT » 18 APR BRISBANE CPD EVENT NOTICEBOARD » SEE AIPM WEBSITE FOR UPCOMING NT CHAPTER EVENTS NOTICEBOARD » 8 MAR WIPM: WOMEN IN BUSINESS -- RESEARCH AND REALITY » 20 MAR BEYOND COMPETENCE: DEVELOPING MANAGERS OF COMPLEX PROJECTS NOTICEBOARD » 19 MAR PMO SIG: COMPARING CAPABILITY IMPROVEMENT PLANS » 20 MAR AIPM/IPAA BREAKFAST » 27 MAR GENERAL FORUM
