Project Manager : Project Manager Dec Jan 2013
www.aipm.com.au Project Manager 17 " Much has been achieved in 2012, and the Chapter Council is planning for even greater things in 2013. Increasing the diversity of members and the range of activities has been a major focus. Our Four- o'clock Forum professional development series has been very popular and will continue next year. This will be complemented by our leadership series, special interest groups and some themed networking events. Next year will also see the return of our state conference, which was postponed in 2012 due to the AIPM National Confer- ence held in Melbourne. The National Conference was another highlight of 2012. Thank you to all the sponsors of our Chapter events and activities over the year, and we look forward to your continued support. Thanks must also go out to State Councillors and all those who have contributed in different ways to help make the Chapter a vibrant project management community and membership of AIPM a rewarding experience. " I would like to introduce myself as the newly-appointed WA Chapter President. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mark Newton for being an exceptional, committed President for the past three years. I am delighted that he will continue his involvement as a Councillor. The 2012 elections have also brought a few changes to the WA Council. I would especially like to thank Eric Gasch, who stood dow n after an extended period as Chapter Treasurer. Eric's contribution over the years has been exemplary. I am passionate about well-executed project management and the critical role it plays in successful project delivery, no matter what the size or complexity of the project. I'm also excited about the fantastic opportunities that WA has to offer the profession. Together with the new team of Chapter Councillors and Martine Peasley, our Chapter Coordinator, I look for ward to an exciting year ahead. " The Tasmanian Chapter Council has started meeting its strategic outcomes for 2013. Our aim is to continue the work done at a national level recently in developing a new membership structure for individual and Corporate Members. This will include advice to aid in the careers of individual members of these organisations. Our goal is to continue the increase in Tasmanian membership, including an increase in those certified through RegPM. Now is the time to start working on your entry for the 2013 Project Management Achievement Awards. We will provide support for those wishing to submit an entry that meets the high standards required to grab a National Award in Perth 2013. Details and events for 2013 will also be available through AIPM's email newsletters. I would also like to thank a retiring Councillor, Peter O'Donoghue, and welcome Councillor Mur ray McLachlan and Chapter Coordinator Louise Grimmer. AIPM NEWS CHAPTERS • " It has been another great year for South Australia, which received three national Project Management Achievement Awards (PMA A) in 2012.
