30 Project Manager • PrOjECT MAnAgED OrgAnIsATIOns AIPM AWArDeD PMo AccreDItAtIon to syDney harbour foreshore Authority on 9 november last year. AIPM presented the award to the Authority Director Asset Management services Peter hazeldine, commending the organisation for adhering to the highest standards of professionalism. the Authority has been recognised for developing a consistent project deliver y methodology. the ‘toolbox’ method, Mr hazeldine explained, a llows the organisation to leverage the lessons learnt on each project, replacing what was an ‘ad hoc’ approach with a formal process. “ PMo accreditation is a whole-of-organisation maturit y capability model,” AIPM ceo Margie o’tar pey notes. “It reinforces the main focus of AIPM – to lift capability and professionalism for project management.” Independent PMo Assessor Jim hughes says the Authority was one of the first organisations to satisfy the recognition criteria right off the bat. PMo applicants first undertake a half-day workshop with a formally trained AIPM Assessor to rigorously address the criteria and identify areas for improvement. “PMo accreditation commands a certain degree of industry respect,” says Mr hazeldine. the voluntar y compliance progra m ensu res organisations t hat implement the appropriate str uctures, methodologies and training for successful project management are recognised as leading professionals in their sectors.
