14 Project Manager • AIPM NEWS NATIoNAl New structures What lies ahead for members? AIPM’s membership council has already taken steps to ensure a more flexible and streamlined approach to individual and corporate membership in 2012. TREvOR AlEx FAIPM CPPD, NATIONAl DIRECTOR AND MEMBERShIP COuNCIl ChAIR BASED ON THE CURRENT STATE OF THE global economy, g rowing AIPM membership and continued interest from individuals and organisations to partner with a reputable and internationally recognised institute such as AIPM, the Membership Council undertook a detailed review of its membership structure. The process involved research of various different structures and considered feedback from our Chapters, as well as corporate and individual members. This led to identifying an appropriate structure that would support and benefit our current and future members. The Membership Council has reviewed and approved the proposed new str ucture, which was presented to the Board for discussion and approval in July 2012. It will provide our members with a flexible and streamlined approach to both individual and cor porate membership. A n important factor that was considered in the review was to provide a category for those keen to pursue a career in project ma nagement that provides them with a certain level of benefits. The structure AIPM is implementing will provide a clear pathway for our individual members as they progress through their project management career, assist organisations with career planning and support for employees, and will also provide a simple structure for prospective members to make the decision to become an AIPM member. Most importantly, members will also benefit from a direct link to A IPM’s highly regarded RegPM certification pathway. From a corporate structure point of view, we will be introducing an additional category and change the names of our current categories. The new categories will allow our corporate members to aspire to greater levels and recognition, and also provide them with an additional level of benefits and ser vices for employees. Our corporates will identify the new structure as a way forward, supporting their employees’ ca reer development and seeing AIPM as a strategic partner. Like every good project, we are in the process of preparing a detailed project plan to ensure our members a re well communicated to. This will enable a smooth transition to the new structure with no disruption to you. The changes will occur towards the end of 2012 and we will advise our corporates and individuals of the new structure well before t he transition commences. This is an exciting time for AIPM as we continue to grow in number and support our current membership of more than 10,000. ••• THIS IS AN EXCITING TIME FOR AIPM AS WE CONTINUE TO GROW
