We are currently finalising the program and more information will be available soon. With the New Year now well underway and the Christmas holidays a distant memor y, the VIC Chapter is gearing up for a range of activities directed at providing increased professionalism, inside tips or simply networking opportunities with fellow project professionals. An important event will be an evening seminar in February on the status and arrangements for the construction of the National Broadband Network (NBN). This will be of great interest to many and especially instructive for the delivery of all types of large complex undertakings. I hope all Victorian-based organisations are considering making a submission for this year ’s Project Management Achievement Awards (PMAA). Now is the time to get organised. A workshop has been set for 21 March on how to prepare a winning submission. At the AIPM National Conference and PMAA national awards dinner in Melbourne later this year, I look forward to seeing VIC examples of best-practice project management. While the support and professional development of individual members is at the heart of AIPM’s endeavours, Victoria also has a range of corporate members. There are many benefits to corporate membership, particularly with the spotlight on Melbourne for the 2012 AIPM National Conference. Welcome to the New Year! I hope you had a chance to relax over the holidays, although I imagine many are already back in the swing of things. We have planned quite a few activities for you to keep things interesting in 2012. The WA Chapter is starting the year with the regular Breakfast Forum at Matilda Bay, a Bunbur y Project Management Forum, a Port Hedland Project Management Forum and ‘The Art of Getting Things Done 2012’ conference in conjunction with the Mining Australia Experience in March. So there are plenty of opportunities to network, learn and earn your CPD points. Who will you be bringing along? We all help sometimes, whether we ’re learning the ropes or are a project management veteran. Formal education, while important, isn’t the only part of a project manager ’s development. I have just had my last exam in a Master of Technology in Project Management, for example, but there are also a couple of people I consider mentors and others in my team whose careers I am helping to develop. Do you have a ‘one up’ and ‘one down’ to work with? Drop me a line if you do, as I’d be interested to hear your stories and discuss how to develop mentoring relationships. ❰ Victoria ❱ ❰ Western Australia ❱ CONTACT OLIMPIA WATKINS VIC Chapter Coordinator 03 9369 2160 firstname.lastname@example.org Visit the AIPM website for more information on events CONTACT MARTINE PEASLEY WA Chapter Coordinator 08 9447 5663 email@example.com Visit the AIPM website for more information on events
