After ratifying the Strategy Map, we will establish measurements, initiatives and Chapter involvement. All stakeholder objectives have been prioritised based on discussions with members at events, the annual survey and experiences of your Board, which is out in the field experiencing the same issues you are. We are confident that we are focusing our efforts on the vital objectives. If you have any comments you were not able to voice at the Annual Conference, please send them through to me now. Your NSW Chapter is holding a nationally promoted full-day Government Project Management Forum in March 2012. At this early stage, we are considering a theme of ‘More for Less’. Governments are looking for benefits which can be measured in financial returns in addition to positive social outcomes. If you have a stor y to tell that fits with the ‘More for Less’ theme please let me know. Are you thinking of submitting a project into next year ’s Project Management Achievement Awards (PMAA)? Now is the time to start organising it. The ACT Project Man- agement Achievement Awards (PMAA) night was a great success with more than 130 people from private, public and not-for-profit organisations attending. Congratulations to all the winners and my sincere thanks to our sponsors: Point Project Management, Cordelta, Cidara and the Canberra Club. As 2011 draws to a close, I thought I’d finish the year on a philosophical note. Ten years ago, the then AIPM National President profoundly described project management as “...becoming the fastest growing profession and an integral component of business delivery”. Well it certainly has and it is! I believe project management has become a neo-management science, as traditional management approaches become increasingly less applicable in modern, highly volatile and constantly changing business environments. Individual project management competency and organisational capability must combine in order to overcome this challenge with sustainable approaches to business deliver y. We all have a vested interest in the continued development and growth of the profession and the people and organisations that work in it. ❰ New South Wales ❱ ❰ Australian Capital Territory ❱ Boyd McCarron ACT Chapter President Paul Campbell NSW Chapter President
