41 www.aipm.com.au Project Manager Movers&Shakers THE LATEST APPOINTMENTS AND MOVES BY PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONALS SENIOR ADVISER JOINS ICT FIRM AIPM member Michael Cuddihy has been appointed Senior Adviser of ITNewcom, an ICT benchmarking, consultancy and research firm with offices across in the Asia Pacific region. “I am using ITNewcom’s tools and methodologies to help clients optimise IT value,” said Cuddihy, who is currently working with Commonwealth and State Government clients. Cuddihy has more than 15 years’ experience in defence, finance and the Australian Electoral Commission, including CIO and PMO roles. NEW GM AT SAGE Sage Automation’s executive team has a new addition, AIPM member Sozos Pavli, who has taken on the General Manager Projects role. The systems integration provider specialises in industrial control and automation. Pavli is charged with establishing, developing and managing the Project (Management) Delivery office. With a background in electrical engineering, Pavli has spent most of his career in the power sector. More recently he has held roles in the public transport sector, including Director of Projects for Keolis Downer Rail. PM TO HEAD MALAWI MINING STUDY Globe Metals & Mining Limited has appointed Les Middleditch as the new project manager for the Kanyika Niobium Project in Malawi. Middleditch will be responsible for delivery of the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) for Kanyika. Les is a chartered chemical engineer with 30 years’ experience in the mining and chemical industries. His experience includes the development and delivery of a number of mining projects and studies and comes to Globe from the position of Study Manager with Bateman Engineering for the giant 48 Mtpa Udokan copper project in Siberia, Russia. Sheryle Moon is the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at AIPM. This position replaces the General Manager’s role. Moon’s career spans more than 25 years and includes several senior roles such as Executive Director of the Australasian Association of Convenience Stores, Managing Partner at Andersen Contracting and CEO of the Australian Information Industry Association. In the next edition of Project Manager, we speak with Moon and her plans for the future of AIPM. PROTEGIC APPOINTS NEW CEO After moving company headquarters from Adelaide to Melbourne, project management firm Protegic has announced the appointment of David Thompson as its new Chief Executive Officer. Thompson joined Protegic earlier this year as General Manager Sales and Marketing. Prior to this he was Vice President Asia Pacific for software vendor AXS-One, part of Unify Corp. The new CEO said he is impressed with Protegic’s credentials: “T here is a large and ready market for these project management skills including the overarching project assurance capabilities that Protegic spearheads. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and to replicating these achievements on a greater scale throughout Australia and in selected neighbouring regions,” he said.
