This gives them a 10GB Microsoft Outlook Live mailbox and an additional 25GB of storage though Microsoft’s Live SkyDrive. Students can also chat to each other or their lecturers using Microsof t Live Messenger and work on group assessments via Microsoft Office Live Workspace, a file- sharing application based on Microsoft Office SharePoint. DFEEST has also deployed a third-party solution to develop an SMS service that runs on Microsoft Live@edu. This enables lecturers to send an SMS-based alert to make announcements to individual students or groups (eg letting them know a class has been changed or cancelled). The South Australian Government has significantly reduced its IT costs by selecting the free Live@edu cloud computing solution.
